A person’s civil rights are very important. The laws that govern civil rights are one of the things that makes America a special place to live. When an individual’s civil rights have been trampled on and violated, they have the right to fight back legally. Hiring a civil lawyer can be the best way to do that. Civil lawyers have very important jobs to do.

•To begin working with a civil lawyer, one should gather as much evidence as they can about the situation that they feel they were violated in. The next step is discussing at length the events that transpired that led the individual to seek help from the civil lawyer. There may be times when civil lawyers do not think that an individual’s complaint is valid and they do not have a case. If that is so, the person is free to consult with other civil lawyers. If that civil lawyer agrees with the first civil lawyer, the individual should reconsider whether or not they really believe that they have a valid case. If a civil lawyer feels that the case is valid, then the next step will be to file an official complaint. The process of one seeking justice has begun. One problem that civil lawyers often have is proving that the individual was discriminated against or was just unqualified for the position.

•Racial discrimination is another issue that civil lawyers handle. Even in this day and age, racial discrimination is not uncommon. The discrimination does not only have to be towards blacks and Hispanics. A white person who feels that they have been racially discriminated against should see a civil lawyer as well. If anyone, not just minorities feels that they have been racially discriminated against they may want to consult with a civil lawyer. Some issues that may involve racial discrimination are housing, jobs or education. Experienced civil lawyers have dealt with almost every kind of racial discrimination. The same issues can apply for a disabled person. For example, a civil lawyer would be the kind to consult with if a disabled person believes that they have been turned down for a job because of their disability.

•Civil lawyers can also help people who feel that they have been discriminated against because of their gender. An example would be a man getting a promotion over a woman who is more qualified than him. The woman may want to see a civil lawyer. However, sex discrimination does not only include one’s gender. Many people, both men and women are sexually harassed on a daily basis. This is especially true in the working environment, regardless of the industry. There are many times when a person may feel afraid or embarrassed to bring a sexual harassment lawsuit against someone. However, if they do they will need the help of a civil lawyer.

A person will often become a civil lawyer in order to help bring justice to the people. They tend to be very passionate about their work. There are many areas of law that a civil lawyer might take care of, but three in particular stand out: sex/gender discrimination, race discrimination and disability discrimination. If an individual has been the victim of any of those issues, they may want to hire a civil lawyer to help them fight back.

Civil laws govern the civil rights of individuals. Years ago when there were no real civil laws, it was not uncommon for racist, sexist and offensive behavior to be flaunted. While those things do still happen, there are now ways that an individual can legally protect themselves against discrimination because of civil laws. The actual definition of civil laws are the personal rights that the government has given to American citizens. A civil law can also effectively protect individuals against ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation discrimination.

•Voting is an important way to make sure that the civil laws in a democracy are upheld. Besides the fact that women and minorities fought very hard to vote, a voter can support the politician of their choice. One should look at the candidate’s policies on civil laws and protecting them. Some candidates address civil laws while others skirt the issue. A person may want to put their vote with the candidate who has strong policies on civil laws that they agree with. Encouraging others to vote is also a good idea. Protecting civil rights by making sure that civil laws are upheld is part of what makes a democracy special.

•A civil law should be protected by everyone. If citizens do not protect their own civil laws, then no one is going to do it. Because of this, situations related to civil laws should be carefully scrutinized. All people have the right to be treated equally under the civil laws. This includes the fact that a civil law exists to allow people freedom of the press, free speech and the right to assemble publicly, as long as they are not violent. If an individual observes a person’s civil rights being violated, there are steps that can be taken to address the issue. One should note the date, time and incident that occurred when the civil law was broken so that one can report it.

•A formal complaint should be filed against the person or company that violated the civil laws of America. The organization that handles the incidents where the civil law was broken is called the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights. They exist to make sure that the civil laws in America are not broken; if they are proper action must take place. Violations of civil laws can be reported right on their website. If others were there to witness the breaking of the civil law, they should also file official complaints. By addressing the issue, an individual is asserting authority. If they do not address it, the entity who violated the civil law will go unpunished and may continue to break civil laws.

American civil laws also include the freedoms listed in the First Amendment of the Constitution. The American government decided years ago that it does not matter what race or gender an individual is. Each person is entitled to the same rights and privileges.

US laws are rules that are enforced by American institutions such the police and the government. US laws routinely vary from state to state, depending on the issue. US laws shape everything from politics to economics and society in several ways. The time period that it takes to make a proposed law into an official one varies depending on the decision that has to be made and what the new US laws will affect.

•Sometimes US laws are made as a result of public demand. American federal US laws just begin as ideas with no legal barring at all. Usually US laws that are formed in this way is a result of an incident that could have been prevented but was not because of the absence of any US laws to govern it. Such is often the case with crimes involving sex offenders or repeated felons.

•Once an idea for US laws are brought to the attention of congressmen, they can then decide whether or not to sponsor the proposed US laws. A congressman may decide to sponsor a law if they think the law has a good chance of being passed. The proposed US laws are then introduced to Congress as bills. The bill is then sent to a particular committee to see if it will be voted into any US laws. The committee that the proposed bill is sent to depends on what type of US laws are trying to be officially passed. If the committee that is sent the bill approves any possible US laws, than the bill goes on to the full house of Congress. Proposed US laws, or bills start in either the Senate or the House of Representatives.

•The government works together within its branches to pass US laws. There are over 400 members of the house of Congress who can turn bill into laws. Proposed US laws are discussed and debated amongst the committee. The bill is then voted on. Of the 435 members, at least 218, or just over half of the members have to agree to the bill to be voted in. Once the House approves the bill, the proposed US laws are sent to the Senate. If the Senate does not approve of the bill, it may be sent back to the House for further debate, or abandoned. If the Senate agrees on the bill then it is passed on to the full Senate. Of the 100 senators that vote on the proposed US laws, 51 must approve of it for it to get passed on to the President of the United States for final approval.

US laws are made for the purpose of governing people in a fair manner, although it does not always work out that way. Any US laws that are not followed can result in the person being prosecuted by the law. Depending on which US laws were broken, they may face serious penalties including time in prison.

The US Constitution is the most powerful, highest written law documentation within the United States. The constitution is the oldest constitution by the federal government that is in use today, put into official writing in 1787. Since the time of its conception, the US Constitution has been changed 27 different times, with the help of the US Constitution’s amendments. An amendment is a formal change made to law or contract. The constitution, like any other constitution is usually changed because the people change their minds about what they think the government should be doing.

•The US Constitution is made up of a preamble and seven articles, or sections. The preamble does not count as a law like the rest of the articles in the constitution do. Instead, it actually explains the reasons that the US Constitution was written. It is the most well known part of the US Constitution. The seven articles in the constitution are the Legislative power, the Executive power, the Judicial power, the State’s Power and Limits, the Process of Amendment, the Federal Power, and the Ratification. All these parts in the US Constitution make laws about certain things; for instance, the Ratification section of the constitution states that the new amendments under the US Constitution would not start until representatives from at least nine states approved the constitution.

•Since its beginning, Congress wrote 33 amendment proposals to try to change the US Constitution but due to the lack of state power, only 27 of those amendments were ratified, or approved. The first ten amendments in the constitution are called the Bill of Rights. Created in 1791, they were made to limit the power of the federal government when it came to controlling individuals. Other countries do not have the constitution unless they are democracies like America is.

•There are many facts about the US Constitution that some people consider to be interesting. For starters, although it is the most powerful legal document that exists in the United States, the US Constitution is also the shortest governmental constitution ever written. The constitution is only 4400 words. Another interesting fact is that when it came time for the states to agree on the final draft of the US Constitution, it was the lack of any bill of rights that held up the process. This explains why a bill of rights was quickly ratified into the constitution. Also, when the constitution was signed, there were 4 million people living in the United States. There are now over 300 million.

The constitution has governed the laws of America for well over 200 years now. Even though the word democracy does not actually appear in the US Constitution, many people credit the US Constitution for being one main reason that the United States thrives as a democracy for the American people.

Being a military lawyer is not very different from being a regular attorney but there are different laws that military lawyers have to be aware of. Since the military operates somewhat in a different direction than the regular United States legal system, a military lawyer has to have complete knowledge of any military law. Attorneys specialize in different fields but for military lawyers, any issue that arises within their command is handled by them.
•	Military lawyers do everything from advising commanders on what the rules of engagement of a situation are to acting as counsel to military personnel charged with a crime. Just like lawyers in any other field, a military lawyer has to get the lengthy education that their civilian counterparts do. However, the differences between a military lawyer and a civilian attorney become apparent when law school end. For a civilian attorney, the end of law school signifies the beginning of a new career. However, military lawyers are required to embark on more training as they begin their careers. Before the end of law school, both civilian and military lawyers must have a bachelors degree and be accepted into law school. The military looks for people who will want to serve with them for a long time. Because of this, military lawyers should be aware that working for the military is very different from working for a regular law firm.
•	Just like any other lawyer, a military lawyer must take the bar exam after law school is finished. The major differences for military lawyers come after they have officially become lawyers. Now is the time for a military lawyer to apply to the JAG Corps. The JAG Corps is short for the Judge Advocate General and is the branch of the military that handles any legal matters that might arise. All branches of the military have JAG military lawyers. Therefore, an individual can choose to become a military lawyer with any branch of military that they are interested in.
•	Like any new recruit, a military lawyer has to go through basic training. Their law degree allows military lawyers to join up as officers because of their law degrees. Because of this, military attorneys are given a higher level of respect when they enter. They do not need to pick a career path as new recruits do since a military lawyer has enlisted with a particular branch in order to serve them legally. They will not be subject to the rigorous workouts of regular boot camp, although there will be some.

Finally, to be sworn in as a military lawyer an individual must agree to serve a minimum of a four year term with the military branch that they have enlisted with. After their four year term is up, a military lawyer can decide to stay in the JAG Corps or work outside of the military for another law firm. However, most military lawyers plan on having a long career with the military because of the bonuses like housing allowances, food allowances and health insurance.

The military is somewhat separate from regular society. When soldiers enter the military, they no longer fall under the United States Constitution. Instead they are governed and have to answer to military laws. They are governed by what is known as the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Military laws and military regulations are two separate and distinctive things which should not be confused with one another. Military laws stand in their own category. On thing that an individual has to remember is that any military laws will be sure to come into play when military regulations are broken. Military laws also govern the punishment that soldiers might get for breaking the rules, along with the military court martial. For a soldier, understanding military laws and the way they govern is one of the most important things to know.

•A soldier has to understand where military laws come from and who they are handed down from. The organization that governs military laws is the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Uniform Code of Military Justice is meant to cover all people that serve on active duty in all branches, the reserve components, and people retired from the military whom are still drawing retired pay. Violations of any military laws that are handed down by the Uniform Code of Military Justice may result in very severe punishment. Depending on what military laws were broken, a soldier may have their pay garnished, be imprisoned or even executed. Despite the harshness, one should remember that military laws are not that different than regular laws. In fact, military laws are easier to understand.

•Understanding military laws starts by examining the Uniform Code of Military Justice. All of the military laws that make up the creed for the Uniform Code of Military Justice are written out in a way that is very straightforward and brief. One is never supposed to misinterpret military laws since the consequences can be so severe. This is why military laws are written out in such a precise way. Misinterpreting military laws is not easy, since the military laws very clearly spell out what one can and cannot do. In the same token, military laws are understood better when one knows the overall organization of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Uniform Code of Military Justice has 12 separate parts. The first part is called the general provisions. Military laws under this provision state exactly who falls under the military laws of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, where the military laws are applicable and the terminology that explains them.

•Understanding non-judicial punishment within military laws is very important when it comes to being completely aware of the rules and regulations. Whenever a violation of military regulations should be addressed, but the violation is handled by a military Commander on either a Company level or higher, then the military laws that are used are the ones listed in chapter three of the Uniform Code of Military Justice handbook. This type of punishment is normally used when the charges that are accrued from the broken military laws do not warrant a trial. Under military laws, a soldier is allowed to request a trial by a military court. Having a trial in military court has both its advantages and disadvantages. The punishment for the broken military laws may be greater than the non-judicial punishment would be. That is a choice a soldier should make with their military lawyer, who is specially trained to know military laws. One should not try to try their own case in the military.

•The punishments that come with the violation of military laws vary greatly depending on what they are. Finding out which military laws correlate with which punishments can be done by reading chapters four, five six and seven in the Uniform Code of Military Justice handbook. These chapters also detail the military laws when it comes to handling the courts that fall under the jurisdiction of military laws, along with the pre-trial court procedures. Within the handbook, soldiers will begin to get a greater understanding for the military laws that govern their lives. Chapter eight describes what sentences the soldier could face for any military laws that are violated. The punishments for violated military laws range from a drop in rank to physical confinement. These military laws also cover a ban against what is known as cruel and unusual punishment.

•The next chapter in the Uniform Code of Military Justice handbook that should be studied is chapter ten. Chapter 10 has the actual punitive articles involving military laws. These charges are the real charges that will be pressed due to the violation of military laws during non-judicial or judicial punishment. This might cover certain crimes and violations of military laws. Some examples are desertion, aiding the enemy during a time of war, disrespect or theft. Some of these military laws loosely define treason, such as aiding the enemy. The appeals process involving military laws is covered in chapter 12 of the handbook. At this point, one should have a good understanding of military laws in general. It is important to point out that an individual does not have to be an expert in military laws to follow them. The appeals process tries to make sure that any violator of military laws still receives a fair and balanced trial, as is their right.

•Some of the most important military laws that were ever made are the military draft laws. It is a well known historic fact that between 1948 and 1973, the United States government enforced a draft that required all men between the ages of 18 and 25 to register for the military. The draft was like a lottery, although getting picked was not the desired outcome. The military laws that governed this lottery made it legal to draft these men during times of war and conflict. During the time period of the Vietnam War many young men were drafted because of military laws to fight for the United States. In 1973, military laws ended the draft. From that point on, military enlistment was voluntary. Still, the However, military laws that govern the Selective Service System require men to register for a draft in case of a future war or conflict.

•According to the military laws that govern the Selective Service System, every young man between the ages of 18 and 25 must register for a possible draft. As of right now, military laws have not implanted a new draft; however, congress and President Barack Obama could demand a draft be put into place if need be. Military laws require men to register immediately after their 18th birthdays. They can do this by going to their local United States Post Office. Military laws even require undocumented immigrants living in the United States to register, even if they don’t yet have a Social Security number or card. If the military draft is ever used, then a lottery would determine the order that the young men would be called into the service. Under military laws, any men who are called into active duty would need to pass a physical and mental evaluation.

•The term “draft dodger” has been around for years. It is used to describe a man who breaks military laws by finding a way to get out of being drafted. Some young men used to go on the run, even leaving the country. The consequences for males who fail to register for the military between the ages of 18 and 25 can be severe. Military laws state that possible punishments can include a fine of up to $250,000 along with up to five years in prison. These young men who did not sign up for the draft would also be refused financial aid for school, personal bank loans, mortgage loans, federal or state jobs such as postal service, and U.S. citizenship, if applicable.

In the years surrounding the Vietnam War, many people took to the streets to openly protest the military laws that sent hundreds of thousands of young men off to war against their will. However, the need was too great at the time. Today, the military has many employed and active duty soldiers. However, military laws are in place to make sure that a draft could pick up, if necessary.

Military law is not exactly like civilian law, although it does follow the same principles. A soldier has to understand where military law comes from before they can be comfortable in the military. The organization that governs military law is the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Violations of any military laws that are handed down by the Uniform Code of Military Justice may result in very severe punishment. Depending on which military law was broken, a soldier may have their pay garnished, be imprisoned or find that their career as a soldier is over with dishonorable discharge.

•Understanding military law can only start by carefully examining the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Any military law that make up the creed for the Uniform Code of Military Justice is included in this handbook and is written in a clear and precise way. Misinterpreting a military law is not easy, since the military law is very clearly spell out what one can and cannot do. Along those lines, a military law is better understood when one knows the patterns of writing in the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Uniform Code of Military Justice has 12 separate parts.

•Under military law, a soldier is allowed to request a trial by a military court. Having a trial in military court has both its advantages and disadvantages. The punishment for the broken military law may be greater than the non-judicial punishment would be. That is a choice a soldier should make with their military lawyer, who is specially trained to know any military law. One should not try to try their own case in the military. Understanding non-judicial punishment within military law is very important when it comes to being completely aware of the rules and regulations.

•The punishments that come with the violation of military law vary greatly depending on what they are. Finding out which military law dictates which punishments can be done by reading chapters four, five six and seven in the Uniform Code of Military Justice handbook. These chapters also detail the military law when it comes to handling the courts that fall under the jurisdiction of military law, along with the pre-trial court procedures. Within the handbook, soldiers will begin to get a greater understanding for the military law that govern their lives. Chapter eight describes what sentences the soldier could face for any military law that is violated. The punishments for violated military laws range from a drop in rank to physical confinement.

By any point in their military career, one should have a good understanding of military law in general. It is important to point out that an individual does not have to be an expert in military law to follow them in a correct way. The appeals process tries to make sure that any violator of a military law still receives a fair and balanced trial, as is their right. However, violations of military law are taken very seriously.

From the time that children are in grade school, they begin studying military history. The military history of any country is important to understand, as military history tends to repeat itself. The military history of each country is related and many times have intersected each other: this is especially true in the wars of the 20th Century. Military history is important for people to understand. Although military history can be overwhelming, there are still ways to study it and get a good understanding on the military history in the world.

•One good way to understand military history is by taking military history classes. Nearly every university offer classes on military history for interested parties. People who want to make a career out of studying military history can even find a college that offer degrees in military history. Whether an individual wants an undergraduate degree, a graduate degree or general knowledge of military history as an interest, college is the best way to explore any academic curiosity. It does not matter if a person thinks they are too old for college; in fact many elderly people decide to take a few classes to keep busy.

•Another way to learn about military history is by subscribing to a military magazines. There are actually many military-themed magazines that are published to keep both soldiers and civilians up-to-date on developments in the armed forces. This military history magazines have been in existence for years. By subscribing to a few of these magazines, an individual can have a constant incoming stream of military history at their disposal. In the same token, individuals should read books about military history. There are so many books about military history that most bookstores have entire sections dedicated to them. These books on military history cover recent military history or military history dating back thousands of years. One should pick their reading material based on what type of military history they are interested in, along with what time period.

•Watching films and visiting museums that concentrate on military history is an even more exciting way to learn. Military history museums can give a visual insight that books can not and the same rule applies for movies about military history. Military museums are completely dedicated to the military history enthusiast, of which there are many. Almost every country has at least one museum dedicated to military history; in the United States, there are museums dedicated to specific branches of the armed forces, individual leaders, battleships, aircraft and even military bases.

Learning about military history can be a fascinating hobby for those who enjoy history, even if they are not sure that the military is something that they want to know about.

Just as corporations use their own private attorneys to fight their legal battles, the military uses military attorneys to handle their affairs. Being a military attorney is not very different from being a regular attorney but there are different laws that military attorneys have to be aware of. Since the military operates somewhat in a different direction than the regular United States legal system, a military attorney has to have complete knowledge of any military law. Attorneys specialize in different fields but for military attorneys, any issue that arises within their command is handled by them.

•The military uses their military attorneys for a wide range of issues. Military attorneys do everything from advising commanders on what the rules of engagement of a situation are to acting as counsel to military personnel charged with a crime. Just like lawyers in any other field, a military attorney has to get the lengthy education that their civilian counterparts do. However, the differences between a military attorney and a civilian attorney become apparent when law school end. For a civilian attorney, the end of law school signifies the beginning of a new career. However, military attorneys are required to embark on more training as they begin their careers. Before the end of law school, both civilian and military attorneys must have a bachelors degree and be accepted into law school.

•After law school, a military attorney must take the bar exam just as any other attorney would. The major differences for military attorneys come after they have officially become lawyers. Now is the time for a military attorney to apply to the JAG Corps. The JAG Corps is short for the Judge Advocate General and is the branch of the military that handles any legal matters that might arise. All branches of the military have JAG military attorneys. Therefore, an individual can choose to become a military attorney with any branch of military that they are interested in. A military attorney can enlist with the Air Force, Army, or Navy JAG Corps. Marine JAG military attorneys are actually already part of the Navy JAG Corps.

•A military attorney has to go through basic training as any new military recruit would. However, their law degree allows military attorneys to bypass some of the hardships, including the fact that they can join up with a higher ranking than others. While a person entering the military will be lowly classified, military attorneys can join up as officers because of their law degrees. Because of this, military attorneys are given a higher level of respect when they enter. They do not need to pick a career path as new recruits do since a military attorney has enlisted with a particular branch in order to serve them legally.

The final step in becoming a military attorney is also unlike that of a civilian attorney. To be sworn in as a military attorney, an individual must agree to serve a minimum of a four year term with the military. While most military attorneys do not mind this, it is a far cry from being able to leave a firm if the job does not suit the new attorney. However, there is also more job security for a military attorney and the experience that they get will be priceless. After their four year term is up, a military attorney can decide to stay in the JAG Corps or work outside of the military for another law firm.
